MPs Expense Rules Relaxed
Right, so we all complained about them and wanted MPs to be scrutinised and now it’s being back tracked upon by the Government ?
Someone explain the following points to me (source:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-12852926)
1) An extra 31 “commuter belt” MPs will be able to claim for hotels or rent
- Why do you need a hotel or rent if you can commute ?
2) those with children up to 18 will be able to claim extra for travel.
- Why do you need to claim extra to travel if you have children ? Why should children affect your travelling to work ? it doesn’t for anyone else.
3) It could add “a few million” to the bill
- Well when everyone else it scrimping, saving and cutting, glad to know the MPs are leading by example.
4) It was not in the public interest for “family life” to be disrupted or for people with young families to be put off from becoming MP
- ITS A JOB, everyone gets jobs (well mostly) and children are always effected by jobs, just because you work in London or at home shouldn’t get effected by Children surely?
5) MPs with children would be able to claim more for travel and accommodation and would see a “modest uplift” in their staffing budget,
- Why do you need more staff if you have children ?? - Also this is now raised to 18 year olds, i’m sorry but if your 16,17 or 18 you should be able to look after yourself by now.
There’s a load more but I can’t be bothered.
